Cons of media violence

Media violence is everywhere these days and it is almost impossible to avoid. They show them on prime time shows and even in cartoons. It will be the best if the adults are able to teach them what is right and wrong. However many kids have their own TV so the adults are not able to keep track of what their kids are watching, and even if they did kids copy what they see on TV even if they were told not to. I think that this may lead to where kids are used to violence and being aggressive by the time they grow up and think that it is an neccessary thing to do.

  1. Since many children play video games, I believe it is almost impossible to avoid media violence.

  2. Hi Marin,
You've introduced some excellent questions in your posting:

    * What role should parents take in helping their children cope with (or avoid) media violence?

    * Should violence on shows directed at children be regulated by the government?

You seem to assume that children who grow up being exposed to a lot of violence in the media will become more aggressive as older children and adults. You might look up some research that provides evidence whether or not this is true.

    Clear skies,
    Joseph D.
